German specialty chemicals company Lanxess has inaugurated the India Application Development Center (IADC) in Thane, Mumbai. The new centre will enable the company to strengthen its innovation and improve its service to the Indian market. In the first phase, the IADC will integrate two key areas: high-performance additives for lubricants and material protection products with applications in antimicrobial treatment, disinfection and preservation.

The centre is part of Lanxess’ strategic focus on further developing India as a growth market and innovation hub. “India offers enormous potential for cooperation and innovative development. With the IADC, we are underlining our commitment to providing tailored solutions for our local customers,” explained Matthias Zachert, Chairman of the Board of Management of Lanxess.

Research priorities and market strategy

The IADC will conduct advanced research into lubricant friction and wear, as well as the synthesis and testing of new materials and the evaluation of the antimicrobial effect of paints, emulsions and other water-based systems. ‘The IADC will enable us to get closer to our Indian customers and address market trends faster and more precisely,’ said Namitesh Roy Choudhury, Vice Chairman & Managing Director of Lanxess India.

The establishment of the centre is in line with Lanxess’ strategic transformation towards less cyclical business areas. The company is focusing on applications in sustainable mobility and consumer protection. India’s growing industry and expanding consumer goods market provide an ideal base for this.
