April issue: Protective coatings in the focus
Protection of industrial goods and infrastructure is one of the most important use-cases for coatings, they ensure safety and the preservation of value. However, lately the market for protective coatings has been merely stable, since the economic turbulences due to the Coronavirus pandemic have affected its customer industries.
As our market overview on page 12 shows, the situation has not been the same in all markets. While Asia-Pacific developed well, most western countries suffered from declining protective coatings sales. However, in the long run, the market will most likely pick up speed again. And of course, there are still many technical challenges to tackle.
One major demand is the reduction of application steps and layers to speed up the coating process. Our technical focus article on page 18 explains how phosphate smurfmers can be used to develop anti-corrosive monolayer coatings with multiple benefits.
In our webcast on 27 April at 15:00 CET, the author of the article, Prof. Jose R. Leiza will show additional data and details from this development. Registration is free of charge.
