Sto acquires the remaining shares in Jonas Farbenwerke

The family-owned company Jonas employs Mit 88 people and focuses on wall paints and other water-based coating products in the German professional market. In addition, the company has become a specialist of paints in customer presentations.  Jonas has a plant in Wülfrath.

Since 2002, the Sto Group has been deliberately building up a second distribution channel for selected products offered through specialist and wholesale outlets, in addition to its traditional direct sales activities. With Südwest Lacke und Farben in Böhl-Iggelheim, the paint specialist within the Sto Group, the Group is already represented here and is currently investing in a new logistics center at the Böhl-Iggelheim location.

Products for interiors and renovation

As part of its 2 long-term strategy, Sto intends to successively expand this distribution channel and become one of the leading suppliers. The company’s partner Jonas, with whom it has already cooperated in recent years, is expected to make a significant contribution to this goal: While Sto’s core competencies lie primarily in the area of facades, Jonas is particularly well positioned in products for interiors and renovation, and has been winning new customers here for years.

By intensifying the cooperation, Jonas should be able to benefit from important competencies of the Sto Group, such as digitalization or international procurement. The Sto Group intends to further develop the company under the leadership of long-time managing director Axel Rouenhoff. In doing so, Jonas Farbenwerke, as well as Südwest Lacke + Farben, are to expand their position on the European paint market as independent subsidiaries.
