Manganese-doped zinc molybdate with synergistic corrosion resistance effects
During a new study, the manganese-doped zinc molybdate (Mn-ZM) material with synergistic anticorrosion effects was prepared through a one-step hydrothermal method. The total impedance value of Mn-ZM coating has increased by 341.6 % and 415.2 % in comparison with that of the ZM coating and pure epoxy coating after immersion in 3.5 wt% NaCl solution for 72 h, showing the best corrosion protection performance.
Synergistic corrosion protection
The synergistic corrosion protection effects of Mn-ZM material were based on the multiplayer passive films, the permeation retarding effect and the improvement of hydrophobic and dispersion properties, which could cooperate with each other to delay the electrochemical corrosion processes. According to the researchers, their work provides a new reference for the further study in elemental doping modification of other inorganic anticorrosion materials in applications.
The study has been published in Progress in Organic Coatings, Volume 182, September 2023.
