Brenntag under pressure from investors

As reported by the news agency Deutsche Presse-Agentur (dpa), billionaire Klaus-Michael Kühne has increased his stake in Brenntag. Through his holding company, he now holds a good 10 per cent of the voting rights; previously, his stake had been just under 5.2 per cent.

Pressure from activist investors

According to the report, Brenntag’s management is under pressure from activist investors who favour a split-up of the group. According to the report, Brenntag wants to initially set up the two divisions Essentials and Specialties more independently as a reaction to this.
