Edible coatings for fruit preservation
After the harvest of fruit, various physiological processes, including transpiration and respiration occur which causes significant losses in fruit quality during transportation and storage. Several studies have shown that the use of edible coatings enriched with plant extracts can effectively minimise postharvest losses in fruit crops. Edible coatings enriched with non-toxic and eco-friendlier plant extract increase consumer acceptance levels.
