EC Short Course | Fundamentals of Functional Coatings
The primary function of traditional coatings is to decorate a substrate. Hence, functional coatings are those having additional functions with an added value designed to enhance and upgrade the surface of the substrate. The tutorial will give an overview about different functional coatings, which have anti-fouling, anti-ice, easy-to-clean or drag-reduction properties. General principles for the development and measurement of special functionalities will be explained and the latest developments of new functional coating concepts will be presented with examples.
