The light stability of fluorescent formulations depends on a number of determinants such as colour shade, pigment and binder chemistry, application thickness, pigment concentration and system design.
The daylight fluorescent pigments Aragen-10´for solvent based formulations and Araqua-10, Araqua-20 and Araqua-30 for water-borne demonstrate improved light stability. Research into special hybrid carrier polymers has succeeded in boosting light stability by between a factor of 5 (migration-optimised daylight fluorescent pigments in technical PVC-based textiles) and a factor of 10 (stabilised colour systems for traffic cones, bicycle, forklift and crane coatings) in comparison to conventional daylight fluorescent pigments.
