In contrast, the technology leverages its lower specific gravity (1.35), occupying more volume in the coating matrix and optimising performance – 1 % by weight equals 3 % in dry film thickness.
In salt spray tests, 0.5-1 % of the inhibitor matched or exceeded the performance of primers with 5 % zinc phosphate. It can also co-blend with zinc phosphate enabling manufacturers to halve zinc phosphate while enhancing protection.
