EC Conference | Understanding PFAS and Reformulating PFAS-free Coatings
PFAS – perfluorinated and polyfluorinated chemicals – are synthetic fluorine compounds, a group of over 10,000 substances, that have unparalleld technical properties. They repel water, dirt and grease thanks to their stable carbon-fluorine bonds. Despite potential health risks, they are widely used because of their outstanding resistance to heat and chemicals. But change is coming: Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden are pushing for an EU-wide ban on PFAS from 2026. Over the past years, their authorities have analysed various PFAS, assessed their applications and potential hazards to create a draft ban.
How can the industry adapt to this challenge? Find out the full story behind PFAS. Which substances are of concern, but which ones are useful and less critical? What alternatives are already available? Find out what areas show the most potential as well as the current limitations.
In this conference, international experts will report on the newest developments and innovations on PFAS and alternatives.
