Copolymer/Silica nanocomposite as binder for textiles coating

Researchers recently investigated mini-emulsified Copolymer/Silica nanocomposite as effective binder and self-cleaning for textiles coating.

Mini emulsified Butylacrylate/Acrylonitrile (BA/AN) copolymer-silica nanoparticles (NPs) nanocomposites were used as functional binder. The prepared nanocomposites contained three different amounts of silica NPs 1, 3, 5 wt%. Two different textile fabrics; cotton fabric 100%, and synthetic polyester fabric 100%; were printed using printing paste containing the prepared nanocomposites via silk screen printing technique.

Surfaces morphology, colour properties, hydrophobic behaviors and UV protection properties

The prepared copolymer, silica nanoparticles and their nanocomposites were fully characterised. The printed fabrics were evaluated by investigating their surfaces morphology, colour properties, hydrophobic behaviors and UV protection properties.
