Nano-modified coatings for the durability enhancement of cement-based materials
Nano-modified composite coatings have illustrated a promising prospect for protecting cement-based material due to their excellent functional properties. A new paper reviews the theoretical research and application progress of nanomaterial modification in the field of cement-based protective coatings in recent years, mainly at the two primary levels of fabrication procedure and functional regulation.
Comprehensive review
By comparing the findings of the various functions of nano-modified coatings, the mechanisms inherent in nanomaterials affecting the physical and chemical properties of coating substrates are analysed. Furthermore, the paper provides a comprehensive review of the existing shortages and challenges of nanomaterial-modified coatings for cement-based materials, clarifies the theoretical and technical issues that need to be addressed, and proposes the future development trends and potential directions.
The review has been published in Progress in Organic Coatings, Volume 161, December 2021.
