Paracetamol based benzoxazine shows high corrosion inhibition efficiency
The inhibition effect of 6-acetamido-3-benzyl-3,4-dihydro-2H-1,3-benzoxazine (ABB) on High Carbon Steel (HCS) and Aluminium (Al) surfaces in 1M HCl has been studied by weight loss, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and potentiodynamic polarization measurements. Corrosion inhibition effect of this compound is considered in sight of blocking the metal electrode surfaces through formation of protective layer by the adsorption obeying Langmuir adsorption isotherm.
Smoother surfaces with ABB
The Atomic force microscopy (AFM) and Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) studies show smoother HCS and Al surfaces with adsorption of inhibitor in acidic medium. The results show that ABB has high inhibition efficiency on HCS surface than on Al surface. Quantum chemical calculations enhance further understanding of inhibition by ABB through structural and electronic properties.
