Revolutionizing corrosion protection: Polyurethane coating with CoMOF-BTA

A newly developed metal-organic framework (MOF) called CoMOF-BTA has demonstrated outstanding results in corrosion protection for aluminum alloys such as AA2024-T3. Produced through a one-step solvothermal process, this material has been thoroughly characterized and incorporated into polyurethane coatings to create active protective layers.

Its performance was evaluated in NaCl solution using immersion and polarization tests. Coatings with CoMOF-BTA particles showed coating resistances (Rcoat) approximately two orders of magnitude higher than those without. Long-term tests, including salt spray analysis, confirmed its excellent protection capabilities.
