Synthesis of a smart coating for furniture textiles
The coating was prepared based on commercial binder and graphite with incorporation of ammonium phosphate and N-[3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl]-ethylene diamine.
Enhanced hydrophobicity and tensile strength
The TiO2 nanoparticles were further dispersed in the coating and decorated in graphite platelet. Mass ratio of ammonium phosphate was varied and their effect was studied. The flammability, thermal and mechanical properties of the treated furniture textiles were evaluated and improved. Rate of burning of developed textile was significantly reduced recorded 0 mm/min compared to 118 mm/min for blank sample. Also, the tensile strength of coated textile was improved by 40%. This is in addition to enhancement in hydrophobic properties of treated textile surface achieving 145° water contact angle.
