There are no indications of deliberate causation, according to the police. The incident caused damage totalling around two million euros. The criminal investigation department and a fire expert investigated the scene of the fire.

The explosion following the leakage of an organic solvent occurred last Monday in the southern plant section of the world’s largest chemical company. The fire was extinguished by the plant fire brigade. 18 people were slightly injured, including 7 firefighters during the extinguishing work.

Various areas of the building were propped up and closed off. The affected plant was shut down. After the incident, environmental monitoring vehicles were on the road inside and outside the site. According to the company, they detected slightly elevated levels of hydrocarbons within the site and in neighbouring areas. However, there was no danger to the population at any time.
