Founded in 2002, the UK-based family business Solventis Group comprises several entities, including Solventis, Kilfrost Europe, Antwerp Distillation Company, Solventis Solutions and Solvenox. In 2022, the group recorded annual sales of over EUR 300 million. In addition to a site in Scunthorpe, UK, the company operates a purpose-built facility in the port of Antwerp, Belgium, Europe’s most important chemical hub. Specialized activities in the areas of blending, storage, packaging, distribution and chemical recycling are carried out there.

According to Ewout van Jarwaarde, Chief Executive Officer Brenntag Essentials, the acquisition brings the company closer to the increasingly global sourcing markets, strengthens its market position and proximity to customers in EMEA.

Acquisition provides further access

The acquisition is intended to improve Brenntag Essentials’ sustainability profile in the future, as procurement will increasingly be carried out via ships and barges. In addition, delivery options via rail transport will be expanded.

David Lubbock, owner and Chief Executive Officer of the Solventis Group, is confident that Solventis’ global supplier and customer network will benefit from Brenntag’s global reach and portfolio. He expects regulatory approvals in the second quarter of 2024.
