Byk builds innovation complex at Wesel site
Byk is constructing a modern laboratory building at the Wesel site. The aim is to develop new innovations together with customers and for customers in end-use laboratories. At the same time, the new building will provide integrated seminar and event rooms for the numerous customer visits.
During the planning phase, particular emphasis was placed on efficient energy utilisation. For example, heating and cooling are to be powered entirely by heat pumps and photovoltaic systems. Sustainable materials will be used throughout the project.
An old laboratory building is being replaced for the building, which measures around 47 x 18 x 14.5 metres and has a total area of 5,100 square metres, so that it can be fully integrated into the existing buildings on the Byk Campus in Wesel. With construction costs of around 25 million euros, the innovation complex is intended to provide modern, state-of-the-art laboratories for Byk End Use in particular, while at the same time rationalising existing end-use, application laboratories and R&D facilities.
The company expects the project to take around four years in total. Completion is planned for the second quarter of 2028.
