Omya anncounces the acquisition of Bublon

Omya, a global producer of industrial minerals, has acquired Bublon GmbH, a technology leader in producing lightweight fillers / microspheres based on the controlled thermal expansion of raw perlite.

Founded in 2012, Bublon provides customised microspheres from the raw material perlite, intending to help customers to manufacture eco-friendly and resource-efficient products. According to the company, the microspheres are suited as an additive in paints and varnishes, for the production of insulation and fire protection boards, renderings and plasters, as a natural, ecological filler for the plastics industry, or as a substitute for microplastics.

The acquisition is intended to extend Omya’s processing capability for lightweight fillers, adds patented, energy-efficient production processes, and a team of experienced technical experts.
