OQ Chemicals declares force majeure for products from Oberhausen
At the end of February, a significant operational disruption occurred in the synthesis gas production of a raw material supplier on the OQ Chemicals site in Oberhausen. The site partner produces technical gases in Oberhausen, including synthesis gas, which is supplied to OQ Chemicals as a raw material for further processing. The affected plant of the raw material supplier was automatically shut down. After a precautionary medical examination, four people were taken to hospital and discharged on the same day.
The shutdown of synthesis gas production will lead to supply restrictions for OQ Chemicals products manufactured in Oberhausen until further notice: Isobutyraldehyde, n-butyraldehyde, n-butanol, i-butanol, 2-ethylhexanol, n-butyl acetate, n-butylamine (all grades), TCD alcohol DM, neopentyl glycol, n-propionaldehyde, isovaleraldehyde, 2-methylbutyric acid, 2-ethylhexanoic acid, n-butyric acid, isobutyric acid, isononanoic acid, isopentanoic acid, isovaleric acid, n-valeric acid, OXSOFT 3G8 and OXFILM 351.
OQ Chemicals is currently unable to provide more detailed information on the duration of the situation. The company has already informed its customers and is working hard to minimise the impact on supply chains and resume production as soon as possible.
