Adhesive and sealant manufacturer Weicon has launched its 11th international subsidiary. The new entity, Weicon Australia, marks the company’s presence on every continent. Located in Yatala, between Brisbane and Gold Coast on Australia’s east coast, the site is managed by Joelle del Rio.

Del Rio has a long-standing connection to the company. She began her career with Weicon as a working student in the e-commerce department in Münster in 2020. After moving to Australia, she successfully established the company’s online business in the region. “We look forward to working with Joelle and her team and to a strong start in Australia,” said Ann-Katrin Weidling, co-shareholder of the Weicon Group.

Promising market and strategic location

The new site benefits from its position in a thriving region with a population exceeding three million. Brisbane, the industrial, commercial, and financial hub of Queensland, is Australia’s third-largest city and offers strategic market access.

Australia is a key market for German businesses, particularly in mining, resource extraction, energy, and environmental technologies. Despite the lengthy supply chains, the continent remains an important source for raw materials. Additionally, Australia is intensifying its efforts to expand renewable energy projects, such as offshore wind farms, as part of its goal to become climate-neutral by 2050.
