Aluminum powder with bright colour and excellent alkali resistance
In recent years, the high-performance aluminum pigments with bright colour and optimal alkali resistance have received significant commercial applications. In this respect, the current study proposes a new method of preparing the coloured aluminum pigment with excellent alkali resistance.
Introduction of Silica and fluoropolymer layers
The basis of the sandwich structure is the introduction of Silica and fluoropolymer layers on the reactive dye. The morphology of the composite layers on the aluminum powder was characterised by scanning electron microscopy. The structure of the coloured aluminum pigment was analysed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Moreover, the hydrogen evolution test was carried out using 5 wt % sodium hydroxide solution to study the alkali resistance.
The findings from the study confirm that the coloured aluminum pigment demonstrates specific sandwich structure, bright colour, acid and alkali resistance and chemical stability.
