Additives and resins in the focus of the September issue
Additives, even small amounts of them, can significantly improve the performance of a coating. In the current discussion on environmentally friendly solutions, they can help tremendously to make formulations more sustainable.
We asked two experts on coatings additives to share their experience. Tim-Frederic Sloot, Evonik Coating Additives, says that “additives in coatings and inks are used in low dosages but have a big impact on coating or ink properties, as well as the final coated product(s). This applies especially in the context of sustainability.” Andre van Linden, Akzo Nobel, stresses that „new additives themselves can also be sustainable. For instance, there are many surfactants derived from vegetable oils, animal fats or sugars, ideally not in competition with the food chain.” You can read their complete contributions on page 22 and 23.
Finally, face-to-face conferences are possible again. Members of our editorial team attended the European Technical Coatings Congress (ETCC) in Krakow and the Coatings Science International Conference (CoSi) in Noordwijk, the Netherlands. Our event reports can be found on p. 54 and 58 respectively.
The complete issue is now also available at our data bank European Coatings 360. European Coatings 360° also provides registered users with the opportunity to conduct your research activities online via our quick and effective full-text search.
