Akzo Nobel opens new Performance Coatings facility in Thailand
With an investment of EUR31 million, Akzo Nobel expands its footprint with this ninth production site in the South East Asia region. The new site will help to better serve Akzo Nobel customers, and reflects Akzo Nobel's continued commitment to the region.
Future expansion opportunities
The new site follows Akzo Nobel's sustainability vision: the plant uses state-of-the art technology pioneered in the US and Europe that will maximise operational efficiency and minimise waste generation. It also adds to the company's organic growth momentum and provides a continuous sustainable footprint. The new site supports the growth for several Performance Coatings' businesses, including metal, protective, specialty and marine coatings, as well as decorative paints. It also provides possible future expansion opportunities for powder coatings.
Adapting to market needs
Commenting on the opening, Bill Collins, Corporate Director of Akzo Nobel Performance Coatings business, said: “This new facility highlights our continued focus on adapting to market needs in order to better serve our customers with essential colour and protection. The large size of the new site and the already established infrastructure enables later-phase investments for expansion. The site will then provide opportunities for possible future expansion and growth in the region.”
