Dörken celebrates the completion of a construction project and the start of a new building project

After a year and a half of construction, Dörken’s new office building on Herdecker Wetterstrasse was completed almost on time and within the planned budget of around 10 million euros. In spite of more stringent conditions due to the current pandemic, construction work on the site – also under strict hygiene conditions – ran smoothly and without accidents and without major disruptions for the employees and residents at the Herdecke site. The good weather conditions in winter 2019/2020 also enabled the schedule to be almost met. Only corona-related delays in furniture deliveries prevented a spot landing on the home straight.

Largest construction project in the history of the Dörken Group

Meanwhile, the kick-off for the largest construction project in the history of the Dörken Group was given in Hagen-Vorhalle. The company is investing around 50 million EUR for buildings, new facilities and infrastructure in the expansion of its second location. The company had decided to relocate its future production activities completely to the Hagen-Vorhalle site, where it was to set up a flowing production facility with new plant and technologies, lean processes, intelligent plant flows and modern, safe workplaces. To this end, several new hall bays will be built and docked onto the existing production facilities.

“What we want to achieve here is maximum added value by focusing extremely on the productivity of our facilities, maximum flexibility in production through the digitalisation of all value-added processes and maximum sustainability in the use of energy, raw materials, buildings and machinery,” says Dörken board member Thorsten Koch.
