New effect pigments enable warm colors with antique look for interiors
A gold that is elegant and unobtrusive and a bold reddish brown with the shine of metal: With "Firemist Velvet Gold" and "Firemist Velvet Russet", BASF has launched two new effect pigments.
Both color shades complete the “Firemist Velvet” series, which also includes pearl (white), bronze and copper pigments. The product family offers manufacturers of decorative interior paints warm design options with an aged effect and an attractive textured surface. Further fields of application are printing inks for high-quality wallpaper and classy designer packaging.
Velvety mat and sparkling at the same time
The appeal of the effect pigments lies in their novel effect: When exposed to indirect lighting they appear elegant and matt whilst direct lighting produces a gently sparkling effect. In addition, their velvety haptics create a comfortable, warm atmosphere. “Warm colors with a metallic shine are full on trend especially when it comes to interiors. When combined with other effect pigments they offer a wide range of antique looks”, explains Arno Tuchbreiter, Head of Pigment Marketing for Industrial and Decorative Coatings at BASF.
Striking effects for wallpaper and packaging
The effect pigments can also be used for the production of printing ink for striking, sophisticated designer packaging – for example for cosmetics or wrapping paper and boxes. Further fields of application are classy looking wallpaper as well as surface coating for metal and plastic.
