Järvinen joined Tikkurila in 2009 and served as president and CEO since then. Previously, he was CEO of the Rautakirja Corporation.

Tikkurila already appointed the current Chief Financial Officer Jukka Havia as interim President and CEO and has started the recuitment process for a successor of Järvinen. Havia joined the company in 2010 as CFO.

Tikkurila's press release clearly states that the board of directors decided that Järvinen will leave his position and immediately presented the interim successor. The release stated no period of transition for Järvinen to leave the company.

In June, the company adjusted its financial outlook with reference to problems with the implementation of a new ErP system and availability of certain raw materials.

Erkki Järvinen also declared his immediate resignation as member and treasurer of the CEPE Board (European Council of the Paint, Printing Ink and Artists' Colours Industry).
