Zschimmer & Schwarz acquires Interpolymer Corporation

Interpolymer Corporation has been sold to Zschimmer & Schwarz to ensure future development of Interpolymer and to strengthen Zschimmer & Schwarz’ portfolio by a new division with specialty polymer-based solutions.

Interpolymer Corporation as legal entity with all operation facilities in the United States, Germany, France and China will remain unchanged. All representatives and contact persons will stay in place.

Focus on water-based specialty polymers

Company-founder, Norwin Wolff, sees the acquisition as a sign of continuity: “With the family owned Zschimmer & Schwarz group, we found a new partner who will maintain the focus of our business supplying high quality polymers along with extensive technical support and close customer contact”. “We are pleased that the Wolff family has chosen Z&S and that Norwin Wolff will continue to support us with his vast knowledge and experience”, says Martin Haberl, president of Interpolymer and one of the general managers of Z&S Chemie. “Interpolymer matches very well with Z&S in many aspects. We are therefore very optimistic for our combined future”. Norwin Wolff will remain with the company and act as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) on a consulting basis for Interpolymer. 

Producing in four production sites

Interpolymer is producing water-based specialty polymers called “Syntran” since 1965. Today producing in four production sites in the United States, Europe and Asia, Interpolymer is belonging to the market leaders in several application fields:

  • Surface care: Polymers for floor care, carpet cleaners and leather care.
  • Consumer specialities: polymers for mascaras, eyeliners, hair care, skincare, sun creams, and household products.
  • Industrial specialities: polycarboxylates and dispersions for construction, coatings & inks, glues, ceramics, industrial processes.
